The Spanish Cinema Academy honours SGO Mistika with Segundo de Chomón Award 2012 for outstanding contribution to the film industry


Madrid, Spain, 28th March 2012: The Spanish Cinema Academy has rewarded SGO with the Segundo de Chomón Award 2012 for its significant contribution to the film industry with Mistika’s highly advanced technology. The Segundo de Chomón Award is a prestigious accolade that the academy grants each year, to those companies or people, that have made an outstanding technical contribution to the cinema industry. The award, which is named after one of the greatest pioneers of twentieth century cinema, Segundo de Chomón, will be presented to SGO’s CEO and Founder, Miguel Angel Doncel, at an official ceremony in Madrid in May this year.

SGO Mistika sets the pace in education at 3D Storytelling Conference at state-of-the-art Ravensbourne College

The International 3D Society rewards high profile Mistika-related projects with numerous accolades


LA, 28 February 2012: SGO is delighted to reveal that four outstanding Mistika-related projects have received awards from the International 3D Society this week in Hollywood.

The Mistika-related projects include:

The Animated 3D Feature Award went to, The Adventures of Tintin, Paramount Pictures which was post produced using Mistika at Park Road Post in New Zealand;

A special “Jury Prize” for Excellence went to, PINA, Neue Road Films which was post produced using Mistika by Christian Troeger and Sven Heck,based in Germany. (The Stereographer was cinematographer Alain Derobe. Christian Troeger is currently working at ARRI using Mistika.) PINA has also been nominated for an Academy Award;

The Short 3D Motion Picture/Narrative Award went to, The Foundling, RSA Films which was post produced by David Cox using Mistika at The Framestore in London

All digital intermediate work in both 2D and Stereo 3D was achieved using Mistika, which included colour grading, conforming, convergence adjustments and hand-offs between shots. Directed by Academy Award® winner Steven Spielberg, the film is based on the series of books “The Adventures of Tintin” by Hergé and is also produced by Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson and Kathleen Kennedy, with Ken Kamins, Hergé Estate’s Nick Rodwell and Stephane Sperry as executive producers.
