    Hello Everyone,

Wanted to take the chance through the SGO Mistika Forum to introduce myself as the Mistika Insight Instructor. I’m Francisco Ramos, although, everyone calls me Paco. I’ve been actively working with SGO technology for the last 10 years. I started at SGO where I was part of the Support Team and became a Mistika Application Specialist, traveling around the globe showcasing Mistika’s powerful and incredible features.

Training new operators and artists was an essential part of the job, adjusting the knowledge and years of experience of the best professionals in the industry to the unique features that Mistika has. In May 2010, I had the opportunity to jump to an Industry Leader, BSkyB in London. At Sky, I could use all of Mistika’s potential in all productions imagined. It started with the launch of Sky’s Stereoscopic 3D channel. One of the challenges was to develop the Stereoscopic knowledge base at Sky, training AVID operators to Mistika so all productions followed Sky’s 3D Guidelines and Standard of Quality. This opened the door to new tapeless raw cameras, so color and resolution management were challenges that Mistika solved easily. This established Mistika as the Advanced Production System and helped all the research and development of technologies as UHD & HDR. Now I will be creating weekly webinars to develop your skills in a production beast like Mistika. Hope you enjoy the experience and Mistika boosts your production.
The first Webinar will take place on Wednesday the 19th of April, at 5 PM Madrid Time: “Mistika Insight Refresh Webinar”. This first webinar is really intended for old Mistika operators and artists that worked with Mistika before but want to get back to speed. If you haven’t used Mistika don’t feel let down as this session should also work as Quick Start Guide. <b>I’ve prepared a Sample Project for you to download and follow the webinar step by step. Bear in mind this project and its content are only to be used to practice this webinar, you can’t use it in any personal or professional projects.
    Yours Truly,

Hi everyone, I’m Fernando Monge from Ibiza. I have the same problem as Pete with the . mxf files. I can se them in vlc but I can’t see them inside Mistika. I’m on a mac by the way.
I can’t see them either inside FCPX ,even though Apple claims that with the Pro Vido Formats installed you should be able to see them.
I’m trying to find a workaround. In the mean time if anybody has any ideas as to how to convert them into a readable format that will keep all the metadata intact…
    great webinar Paco, thanks

    Hi,
I was able to convert the .mxf files to apple pro res 422 in compressor by downloading and installing the Avid QuickTime Codecs LE from http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/download/Avid-QuickTime-Codecs-LE

    Hi,
I substituted the .mxf files by the apple pro res files and everything seems to be working fine

    Hi Fernando,

Thanks a lot for the workaround. Really helpful to get the ball rolling. We are looking into the issue. In the macOS computers we have at SGO, files are working fine. As soon as we have a solution, we will let you know.

    Thanks again,

    Paco.

    Hi Fernando

Thanks for the workaround. I also tried compressor but it didn’t recognize mxf codec, your fix made it work perfectly.

    Thanks again!

    Pete

    Hi Paco,

    Two things:

    1) when I import the AppleProRes files with the command “import all movies” the imported metadata reads as interlaced though the files are not interlaced. If I import them one by one I can choose to import them as progressive.

    2) I’m unable to set the target to “user defined” in the Video Setup window. So I can not set a custom path for the renders

    Best,

    Fernando

    Hi Fernando,

Regarding your 1st point: That’s my bad as I didn’t explain in the video that is a configuration setup that you can do in Edit->Setup

    Setup

Furthermore, even if you imported a file incorrectly you can modify the attribute of the clip if you select the clip and go to  Edit->Attributes

    Attributes

Anyway, I will go through this in Wednesday’s webinar.

    Cheers,

    Cheers,

    Paco.

    Hi Paco

I’m not sure if what follows is normal for the mac version of Mistika but I’m having some interface issues.

The main apple menu bar covers part of the Mistika interface.

    Menu-Bar-Before

After selecting enabling auto hide/show in apple general preferences the interface is not hidden by the top apple menu.

    Hi Paco

Sorry about that apparently my first screen grab did not show up. What follow is the interface covered by the apple menu bar.

    Hi Paco

    More interface issues.

Going into the visual editor with a colorgrade the source/record monitor will remain in view.

    Visual-Editor-ColorGrade

Once I added the scopes the source/record monitor goes away

    Scopes-Enabled

Going back into timeline view the scopes stay in view and the only way to remove them is to go back into the colorgrade visual editor and disable them.

    Scopes-Still-Enabled

    Thanks

    Pete

    Hello all,

Thank you so much for your report. The version is in beta phase so all those bugs will be fixed in the release version. We have created a new forum for reporting bugs. Please use it. Here is the proper link.

    Kindest Regards,
