The high-profile event is produced by Media Business Insight (MBI) – the publishers of Broadcast, Screen International and Shots. The Post Perspective session at 15:00 on Thursday 5th June, chaired by Will Strauss as part of the HD Evolved 4K and Beyond seminars, will take place in the David Lean Room and covers Ultra High Definition (UHD) and vital information for anyone working in 4K. Panellists include SGO’s Director of Global Sales and Operations, Geoff Mills, Dave Klafkowski, Technical Director and MD of The Farm and Rik Tester, Post Production Supervisor of ONSIGHT. The discussion includes how the challenges that 4K brings are overcome; the benefits of 4k for both the post sector and producers and where 4K will lead the industry in the future. Mistika is already at the forefront of 4K with all the necessary underlying facilities to post produce 4K projects, even at 60 frames per second, guaranteeing SGO customers a future-proof return in their investment.
Armed with a roaming Mistika, Senior Product Application Specialist Sam Sheppard at SGO will also be at hand on Thursday to provide delegates with a taster of Mistika and a unique opportunity to gain a sense of the system’s immense power and capabilities. Located at London’s BFI, the high profile event featured talented people behind the best 3D films and television programmes of the past year. A series of exclusive screenings and in-depth Q & A’s with some of the industry’s leading practitioners lined-up an exciting event including the first 3D Producer’s Lab.SGO’s Geoff Mills was involved in a compelling discussion titled “3D Post — Quicker, Smarter, Easier” with Andy Shelley (ONSIGHT), David Wigram working on Dr Who using Mistika and hosted by Jonathan Tustain where they discussed how post production has adapted and improved at a remarkable rate to make 3D more streamlined for productions. The session introduced some of the leaders in 3D post and explains how workflows and technologies have evolved to make the process better than ever.
SGO customer Park Road’s Phil Oatley and Meetal Gokhul travelled from New Zealand to discuss some of the insights and challenges of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. This exceptional film is the world’s first Digital Cinema Release in Stereo 3D 48 high frame rate and is a pioneering adventure.
A Mistika suite was also in The Atrium for visitors to view live demonstrations followed by Q&A’s. Academy Award Winning Director Ang Lee joined the summit for an exclusive interview live from New York, shared with the audience his experiences in overcoming technical and creative challenges on the awe-inspiring ‘Life of Pi’ and his post-Oscar thoughts for the future. BTV Post delivers stunning results using Mistika’s Stereo 3D toolsets to immerse viewers in the centre of the action of an epic animal mass migration across Africa
London, 18 January 2013 – BSKyB won the “2012 International 3D Society Lumiere ™ Award-Europe for outstanding “Live 3D TV Event” for The Isle of Wight Festival programme. The project was produced by Blink TV for BSkyB and directed by Marcus Viner.
Senior Editor, Reg Wrench at Preditors oversaw the transition from offline to Mistika 3D online. Online Stereographer, Ross Copeland was responsible for the 3D geometry alignment, depth grade and finishing of the two 90-minute highlight films in record time, over just seven days, using Mistika at Preditors. Reg and Ross established a very fast workflow to transfer the finished 3D edit to Mistika where all the parts and graphics conformed instantly.
